BluOS recommends taking a backup of the playlists to a USB flash drive before performing a factory reset to avoid unintentional loss of the playlists.
Back up playlists
To back up playlists, perform the following steps:
- Insert a powered USB drive or USB memory stick into the USB port of the primary Speaker.
- In the BluOS Controller App, under the left Navigation Drawer, select Settings.
- Under STEREO PAIR, select the primary Speaker.
Note: Primary Speaker is the Left or Right Speaker NOT labeled as the Secondary Alpha iQ– XXXX in the App (where XXXX is the last four digits in the MAC - Machine Access Control Address). The complete 12-digit MAC address is printed on a sticker on the bottom or back panel of the Speaker. - Select Backup playlists. After a few moments, The Playlists backed up message is displayed.
- Remove the USB drive or USB memory stick.
The playlists are saved to the USB drive as a stored_playlists.db – database file.
Restore Playlists
To restore the playlists, perform the following steps:
- Insert a powered USB drive or USB memory stick with the db – database file into the USB port of the primary Speaker.
- In the BluOS Controller App, under the left Navigation Drawer, select Settings.
- Under STEREO PAIR, select the primary Speaker.
Note: Primary Speaker is the Left or Right Speaker NOT labeled as the Secondary Alpha iQ – XXXX in the App (where XXXX is the last four digits in the MAC (Machine Access Control) Address). The complete 12-digit MAC address is printed on a sticker on the bottom or back panel of the Speaker. - Select Restore Playlists. After a few moments, the Playlists restored message is displayed.
- Remove the USB drive or USB memory stick.
Notes:
- When inserting a USB drive or USB memory stick that contains a previous version of db – database file to create playlists backup, the existing database file is rewritten.
- Restored playlists are network share dependent. A restored playlist only plays tracks located in identically mounted network shares. If tracks are in different shares or have been moved, such tracks are omitted from the playlist.
